Some good news - Manulife benefits for homecare

Carole's friend Karen at Manulife was talking with Natacha, and one of the benefits with Carole's work is at home palliative care to a limit of $10,000 year.
From what I understand, there would be $10,000 allowed up until the end of the year, and then at January 1st, it would reset again to $10,000.

So, if Carole's condition should improve to the point of coming home, there are resources, and access to the right care. The important part being the right care.

Other than that, Natacha and Mario have meetings at the hospital throughout the day, and I will hear from them later.

I plan to talk to Paul and the kids over the weekend as well regarding what they feel they need for meals and drives. We can work on some kind of schedule then.

Not to be negative about this but the $10,000 would only allow for about 10 days of care and there is alot of paper work and conditions that need to be met...we definitly thought it was worth a try. On a brighter note, the palliative care nurse told us today that if they get Carole on that floor, then they can, if she stabilizes, get passes for her to go home for a day or two at a time. Karen, her friend who is a nurse, and I thought that this was a great place to start in terms of the care needed and what we can all manage. We just need Carole to agree to go down to that floor. It is easy to hold a bed from that floor for day passes, but much more difficult to do it on the floor where she is now.
